Thump, thump, thump: “The boys are back in town” – 28mm Swiss Keils

Almost finished. Bit of base touch up and add pikes. Three “full fat” 16x base Swiss Armoured Keils for Oxford on the 6-7 June. Recycling some “old” FOGAM 28mms into FOGR and “Hordes of Models and Buckets of Dice” (www.quickplayrules.com). The figuares are from Bicorne Minitures.

Also found a number of Landsknects, but they need a complete repaint.

   
   

First samurai unit done…. Awaiting final basing…

So, finally finished first unit of 8x superior, heavy armoured , spearmen. Going to do final basing at the end. Been trying out quickshade and dry brushing… Quickshade actually does seem to work better than floor stain I’ve used in the pass…. Again gloss varnished the armour to give a lacquer effect… Not sure how it’s coming out… May decide to over spray Matt… Figures are looking a bit like zombies 🙂

An interesting option: Murakami Kaizoku with Woko Pirates

Been thinking about the overall look and feel of the army. Plus running through a POAs vs Pike/Shot. Spearmen POA does not apply versus protected pike/shot. Hence although superior my Samurai are going to fighting at a disadvantage. Impact foot however, do get the a single plus. I’m going to be largely going to be on the back foot versus mounted, so I’m not going expended effort on counter acting something I cannot really influence , other than grab terrian so not in the open.

Back to look and feel: when selecting Murakami Kaizoku, you have the option be bring Woko (Japanese/Chinese) pirates. Arrr… As Madaxeman (Tim Porter) would say.

The Woko give you units that are swordsmen with half ranks being impact foot and half either bow or arquebus. I will go with bow as the short range is the same as my charge range. Reading the list “small print” a usual change for the Woko units is when a base is lost. The Impact foot POA remains at the front.

Given the figures I already have, mine will have a tatty samurai look about them. Basing will be fun as I could do a beach theme with debris.

With the list below, the GC is going to be busy and I only have one TC I can commit to the front rank in combat.
